Currently Naimo is an elementary teacher with Edmonton Public Schools. She had the opportunity to work in both the public and private sectors of education within the city of Edmonton.
Prior to making the transition to public education, she spent her first couple of years working at a private school. She is an advocate for her students, especially after working with refugee and immigrate student populations. She understands the importance of creating a trauma sensitive environment for all students to succeed. Much of her practice is rooted in relationship building ultimately connecting with students, families and communities in order to lead to overall success in student learning.
Her passion to serve others was first sparked through her interest in Health Care which lead to working for a health care company for four years, providing care to infants and children with complex respiratory needs. This paved a way to choosing a career working with young people.
During her undergraduate studies, Naimo also completed a Community Service-Learning Certificate, this later helped shape her current philosophy of teaching. She understands the responsibility of connecting with the community to develop shared goals and capacity. By working on various projects she was able to make a contribution to not only the University community but the non-profit community of Edmonton.
She earned a Bachelor of Elementary Education from the University of Alberta in 2013. She quickly began her career as a classroom teacher that same year.
